LegalCORPS Brief Advice Clinic

LegalCORPS is a nonprofit organization with the mission of expanding access to legal services in the area of business law through the services of volunteer attorneys.

We’re pleased to be able to work with LegalCORPS in extending their services to the small business community in need of brief legal advice in 30 minute time blocks via phone consultation.

Since we need to coordinate this with LegalCORPS, we ask you to download and complete this form and send it to slewis@legalcorps.org, Upon receipt, this will be recorded and forwarded to an attorney for direct follow up with you.

Please be patient and flexible on this scheduling given the circumstances.

Special Assistance for COVID-19 and Civil Unrest Impact

In partnership with the Volunteer Lawyers Network, LegalCORPS launched an intake line in early June for small businesses and nonprofits impacted by COVID-19 and/or the damage and destruction caused by the civil unrest in the Twin Cities in response to the tragic killing of George Floyd.

Owners of small businesses and representatives of nonprofits located in Minnesota can call 612-752-6687 to request help from a volunteer attorney. The line will be staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00 until 4:00. There will be an option to leave a voicemail if nobody is available to take the call.

We have hundreds of pro bono attorneys waiting to be matched with clients for brief advice by phone or full legal representation. Areas of assistance will include insurance policy review and claims, contract review, landlord/tenant or other real estate issues, employee relations, financing issues, bankruptcy/workout matters, and navigating the requirements of any state or federal assistance that might become available.

This assistance is free and available to the public. We have income guidelines for full representation but are taking the current situation into consideration with each request for full representation.
